Building the Perfect Curly Hair Wash Day

Curly and coily hair is naturally drier because the bend in each strand stops scalp oils from travelling down the shaft. A structured wash day compensates for that with layered hydration.

Begin with a pre-poo oil to protect the strands from the stripping action of cleansing. Massage it in, clip up, and let it sit for twenty minutes.

Cleanse the scalp only, letting the suds rinse through the lengths. Follow with a deeply moisturising conditioner and detangle with a wide-tooth comb while the slip is still active.

Apply stylers to soaking wet hair in sections, scrunching upward to encourage clumping. Plop in a microfibre towel for ten minutes, then air dry or diffuse. Once fully dry, scrunch out the crunch of the cast to reveal soft, defined curls.

“Curls thrive on ritual. The same steps, same order, every single time.”
